The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) has released a video giving an overview and update on the activities of its Global Sanitation Fund (GSF). The GSF is a single pooled fund open to contribution from any source including governments, foundations, private sector and individuals. The money is allocated to Executing Agencies in selected countries, which then grant funds to Sub-Grantees who implement the programme.
So far the GSF has released US$ 5 million each to country programmes in Madagascar (April 2010), Senegal (June 2010) and Nepal (2010). Four more countries will get funding in the first GSF round, with ten more to follow in the the second round.
